Defense shy in second half for loss
December 17, 2017
karrigan gathered a 14/21 KD on Friday in a 16-13 loss to Astralis at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
The series started smoothly for karrigan on Overpass as FaZe Clan opened up the series with a 3-0 lead. Astralis founds ways to win a counter karrigan as his team has found success with the quick strike on the A-bombsite. However, karrigan eventually started to play more passive in the late rounds which helped the team finish the half with an 8-7 score. The second half kicked off with karrigan winning the 1-vs-2 clutch on the B-bombsite to hold the push. Karrigan was able to pick up a few more rounds but Astralis remained composed on the offense to take the lead early. Karrigan struggled to hold off the offense of the Danes who eventually rode off with the second half, leaving karrigan with a tattered economy and a loss on Overpass.
Quiet in the second half

rain went 14/21 on Friday in the 16-13 loss to Astralis at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
rain kicked off the series with a double entry-kill on the B-bombsite to help secure the pistol. His efforts led to a 3-0 start that quickly evened out thanks to Astralis. Both teams contested rounds but the defense of Astralis took the lead late. Shortly after, rain cut the lead in Round 13 with an upgraded pistol to pick up a triple kill on the A-bombsite entry. Going into the second half down 8-7, rain had a hard time finding his place on the defense as not many trade kills went in his favor nor could he find a way to win on the retakes. Earning six rounds, rain couldn't get any more on the board with a broken economy as Astralis took the win.
Unable to hold for the win

NiKo posted a firm 21/20 KD on Friday in the 16-13 loss to Astralis at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
NiKo ripped through the defense of Astralis in the early rounds to get the entry-kills and post-plant holds to take the 3-0 lead. However, Astralis contested to even the score 3-3 and eventually take the lead as NiKo opened up the A-bombsite with a triple to secure the 4-3 lead. NiKo then struggled to get past the defense after a few failed attempts on the A-bombsite to give Astralis the lead. He then found a few round wins by holding the post-plant to settle for an 8-7 half. NiKo continued in the second half with a firm hold on the B-bombsite to pick up a few rounds but nothing more as his performance began to trail off in the late rounds to take the loss.
Securing the win aggressively

dupreeh tallied a 21/13 KD on Friday in a 16-13 win over FaZe Clan at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
Down 3-0 early on, dupreeh stuck with it and contributed to the Danish comeback to hold the aggressive offense of FaZe on the B-bombsite to earn their first-round. He then helped get the team pick up several defensive rounds with a hold on the A-bombsite as well as his well-timed retakes to shut down FaZe. Taking the lead late almost went south as dupreeh gave FaZe some room on the A-bombsite but managed to close the half with a quad kill. The second half started smooth but FaZe made some noise near the end, but the composure from dupreeh getting the entry-kills allowed his team to take more control. His efforts allowed the offense to pick up enough rounds and money to finally close FaZe with a 16-13 win.

Kjaerbye posted a solid 20/14 KD on Friday in a 16-13 win over FaZe Clan at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
After suffering a 3-0 deficit early, Kjaerbye picked up his marbles in Round 4 to get a triple kill retake on the B-bombsite to secure the first round for his team. A few more defensive holds on the B-bombsite from Kjaerbye helped even the score 3-3 and eventually hold for a 5-4 lead. Breaking the economy of FaZe allowed Kjaerbye to pick up a few frags to secure the lead but the aggressive offense from FaZe contested late. Edging the first half 8-7, Kjaerbye showed his own style of aggressive offense to get several entry-kills primarily on the B-bombsite to control the second half. Finally, Kjaerbye closed out the map with a quad kill entry on the B-bombsite to secure the win.

RUBINO went nuts with a 32/15 KD on Friday in the 16-13 win over FaZe Clan at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
RUBINO took a tough 3-0 deficit early on the defense of Overpass as FaZe showed an aggressive offense early. However, the patience from RUBINO paid off to help his team on the retakes and holds to help even the 3-3 score. He then tied the game for Astralis in Round 8 with a triple kill hold on Long-A to secure the round. RUBINO also followed up with a quad kill to secure the two-round lead. FaZe contested but the composure from RUBINO allowed the team to edge the first half 8-7 going into the second. Despite FaZe taking the two opening rounds, RUBINO never missed a beat getting the entry-kills and frags in the second half to outlast FaZe in the win, posting a team-leading 116.6 ADR.

jdm64 collected a 16/24 KD on Friday in a 16-12 loss to FaZe Clan at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
A pistol and then following with an anti-eco round win contributed by jdm64 help the team take the 2-0 lead on Mirage. However, FaZe contested in Round 3 but jdm64 stole the following round with a triple kill to even the 2-2 score. jdm64 had a hard time controlling the offense from taking the mid-control with the late rotations as well as an aggressive presence on the catwalk. Although jdm64 managed to get the AWP to help retake the A-bombsite to secure the 9-6 lead at the half. However, he struggled in the second half to find different ways to win rounds with a limited economy, resulting in a tough loss with only three rounds won in the half.
Earning the last round in loss

steel posted a 19/21 KD in the 16-12 loss to FaZe Clan on Friday at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
The pistol round went the way of steel who contributed to the firm hold on the B-bombsite to prevent the plant. A solid anti-eco retake granted the team the 2-0 lead but steel did miss a few trade kills that allowed FaZe to win a few rounds. Although FaZe contested early, steel found his groove on the defense with the keen retakes and map control to take the first half 9-6 going into the second. However, steel was rather quiet in the second half despite the denied retake in Round 26 with a triple kill to earn Liquid's last round won in the loss.
Stopped short in the second half

EliGE posted a firm 23/20 KD on Friday in a 16-12 loss to FaZe Clan at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
EliGE kicked off Mirage with a strong presence on the B-bombsite to pick up the triple kill on the hold. He then followed up with a strong retake on the A-bombsite to get the defuse. However, FaZe did contest to win a few rounds and eventually tie the game at three rounds apiece, but the money went back to EliGE who then held the line on the mid-control and the retakes to help the team secure the 9-6 half. In the second half, EliGE contributed to the well-executed A-bombsite hit to secure the pistol and the plant. Unfortunately, EliGE could only pick up two more rounds as he struggled to get past the defense of FaZe for the 16-12 loss, posting a team-leading 87.1 ADR.
Holds the line for the win

GuardiaN completed Mirage with an even 19/19 KD on Friday in a 16-12 win over Team Liquid at the ECS Season 4 Finals.
ANALYSIS
GuardiaN started the series on Mirage rather on the slow side as he did contribute to the short comeback to even the score early. His trade-kills helped the team get the entry-kills to get a few bomb plants down but Liquid controlled the map and the score 8-7 at the half. In the second half, GuardiaN did break out with the AWP to snipe down the Danes from taking the early mid-control. Although a few rounds did go south as he missed a few opening shot that cost him his position, however, with money in the bank he managed to come back with force. Shutting down the offense to win 10 out of 13 rounds contributed by GuardiaN on the AWP granted FaZe the second half dominance to take the win.
