mertz began the series on Nuke where his offensive side could only bring upon three rounds before NiP claimed the first half 11-4 lead. mertz then found his ground in the second half to come back on the defense for twelve rounds to force overtime. In the overtime rounds, mertz pressed on to pick up three rounds before claiming the last round on the back of his triple kill to take the series lead with a 19-15 win. The momentum didn't carry into Inferno as mertz faced another tough deficit going into the second half, Down 11-4, mertz could come up with two rounds as NiP claimed the series split with a 16-6 win.

North has announced that mertz from North Academy will be replacing cajunb on the main roster.
The 19-year-old from Denmark will get the promotion of a lifetime as cajunb performed poorly at the ELEAGUE Major New Legends stage, which the team saw get sent home early with a 0-3 record. The young star has been the front-runner for North Academy, averaging a 1.18 rating on LAN and an above-average rating across all tournaments besides two. In a statement, North's Director of Esports Jonas "whimp" Svendsen mentioned that the organization "needs to win titles," prompting the move. mertz will make his first appearance with the team at the cs_summit 2 which is set to kick-off from February 8-11 with a prize pot of $150,000 up for grabs.
