Splyce took one step closer to securing a first-round bye in the European League of Legends playoffs by taking down Misfits Gaming on Friday in Berlin.
With a big win Friday, Splyce (9-6) solidified itself as a threat approaching the post-season. Misfits (7-8) drafted a high pressure early-mid game composition which did what it was supposed to do, enabling the team to repeatedly dive the bottom lane outer turret and build a gold lead. Splyce's teamfighting composition didn't scale yet, but Splyce didn't give anything away for free, constantly matching the Misfits pressure. As the game went on, Misfits seemed to overestimate how ahead it actually was, trying to bully Splyce around with a low-damage composition, allowing Splyce to wait until the perfect moment to strike back.
After a close mid game left both teams relatively even in kills and gold, Splyce forced Misfits out of the mid lane with fantastic skirmishing prowess. It didn't help Misfits that mid laner Chres "Sencux" Laursen simply didn't have the damage the team needed as Galio, allowing Splyce to bully Misfits around once Splyce mid laner Yasin "Nisqy" Dincer's Ryze got the items he needed. Securing a 28-minute Baron, Splyce charged, smashing through the mid and bottom lanes before locking up a final teamfight to end the game in just under 32 minutes. Splyce displayed veteran poise in the win, which will help its campaign going forward as it is now threatening G2 Esports' (9-5) first round bye in the playoffs, while Misifts must worry about missing playoffs altogether if it can't right the ship in its upcoming matches.
Misfits face Giants Gaming at 11 a.m ET on Saturday, followed by Splyce taking on H2k Gaming at 12 p.m ET the same day.
