Fnatic showed why it's the top team in the European League of Legends Championship Series on Friday by dismantling ROCCAT.
While the rest of the EU LCS is still battling for playoff spots, Fnatic (11-4) had the luxury of playing without having to worry about the postseason. However, the team nearly took a perfect game against ROCCAT (6-9). Drafting a strong early bottom lane for AD carry star, Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, and support Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov in Caitlyn and Morgana, respectively, Fnatic smothered ROCCAT's bottom lane, taking the tower around 10 minutes in after Rekkles picked up a first-blood double kill. ROCCAT AD carry Tore "Norskeren" Hoel Eilertsen was behind Rekkles by 40 CS (creep score) and 2,000 gold at 13 minutes.
Things went from bad to worse for ROCCAT, who managed to take one turret. Once Fnatic got ahead of ROCCAT, Fnatic seemed content to play with its food, biding time and methodically taking towers while ROCCAT could do little more than watch. All of Fnatic played well in this game, working together to choke ROCCAT out of resources and dominating vision control, making it too scared to leave its base. Eventually, Fnatic decided to take the win after a 28-minute Baron, closing the game out at 32 minutes with a 15,000-gold lead. With its victory, Fnatic locked up a first round bye in the upcoming playoffs, while ROCCAT moves into a five-way tie for 6th place, still in contention for a playoff spot.
ROCCAT looks to keep its playoff dream alive when it takes on Team Vitality at 1 p.m ET on Saturday, followed by Fnatic taking on rivals Unicorns of Love at 2 p.m ET the same day.
