Unsung hero of win against Dynasty
May 17, 2018
Space made the smaller, but incredibly impactful plays, during the Los Angeles Valiant's 3-2 win over the Seoul Dynasty on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
With the meta shifting to start Stage 4, it was expected that players would need to deepen their hero pools in order to help their teams. Space did that in the best way possible, pulling out his pocket Zarya and putting in work with her. Since the hero hasn't been a part of the meta since he's been in the OWL, whether he could perform well enough to help his team to victory was a big question. He answered that question emphatically and the Valiant picked up a much-needed win over Seoul to get a leg up in the race for the Pacific Division title.
Puts the Valiant on his back in win
May 17, 2018
Agilities was the driving force of the Los Angeles Valiant's 3-2 win over the Seoul Dynasty on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
While Agilities didn't play in every map of this series -- he was taken out in favor of Bunny for Lijiang Tower -- he was explosive whenever he was in the lineup. Whether he was playing Junkrat or Pharah, he absolutely lit up the Dynasty at every turn. This was especially true during his Pharah duels against Fleta where he frequently came away with the upper hand. Agilities has always had the tendency to pop off when he wants to, but this was an otherworldly performance that has started to happen with a bit more regularity than before. If he can keep up this level of the play, the Valiant could very well be on their way to a playoff bye.
Recovers from tumultuous start
May 17, 2018
Soon brings out a variety of heroes in 3-2 win over the Seoul Dynasty on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The series might have started out rough for the Valiant DPS player, but he found his groove before long. In the opening map of the series, he was picked off over and over by Fleta as the Dynasty Widowmaker was running roughshod on Los Angeles. There was simply nothing that Soon could do as he died nine times to Fleta on the opening map alone. As the series progressed, however, Soon found his footing and help push his team to victory. He played Brigitte, Junkrat, as well as his usual Widowmaker and Tracer. His flexibility allowed the Valiant to adapt and come away with the tight victory over the pesky Korean squad.
Strong even in defeat
May 8, 2018
Space tried his best to bring the Los Angeles Valiant a victory during their 3-0 sweep at the hands of the New York Excelsior in the Stage 3 playoffs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
While the Valiant were easily brushed aside by the Excelsior in this match, it wasn't for a lack of effort from Space. As he has been for the entirety of Stage 3, he was solid on the frontline with D.Va to give his team a fighting chance. He focused down targets with precision and ate up a ton of damage to boot. Unfortunately, the Excelsior were simply too much to handle as a unit, and there was simply nothing that anyone on the Valiant could do to stop the impending doom in this sweep.
Loses Widowmaker duel
May 8, 2018
Soon was picked off time and again during the Los Angeles Valiant's 3-0 loss to the New York Excelsior on Sunday in the Stage 3 playoffs.
ANALYSIS
As was the case for the majority of this Valiant team, Soon was outmatched by his New York counterpart. In this case, Pine got the better of the Widowmaker duel at every turn, leaving his team open to also get decimated by the lethal sniper. While Soon has found much success in this role throughout Stage 3, it was clear that there is a sizable gap between the Valiant and a team like New York. Still, a trip to the playoffs was a large step up from the team's performance in Stage 2, which sets up an exciting end to the season.
